The Faces of Luminex: Brett Osburn, Manufacturing

Here at Luminex, we’re proud to design and manufacture the products we sell—whether we’re synthesizing dyes for multiplexing or building clinical assays. In our synthesis group, we count on Brett Osburn, Lead Manufacturing Chemist, to help ensure the quality of our products. He has two bachelor’s degrees: one in chemical engineering from Texas Tech University, and the other in music performance from Baldwin Wallace University.

Q: What are your responsibilities at Luminex?

A: My main responsibility is ownership of the synthesis manufacturing space, which includes all of the equipment, optimization, maintenance, and more. It’s also taking ownership of various development projects, both for products that are being integrated into our manufacturing space and for experiments we’re doing to create new products, or to optimize existing ones.

Q: How did you get to this position?

A: I started at Luminex back in 2014 in the reagent formulation division. After developing an understanding of the products, the leadership team moved me to the synthesis group. I worked my way up and was promoted to lead manufacturing chemist a few months ago. It’s been a whirlwind! My favorite part about being here is having the opportunity to develop and deepen my technical understanding. This year, I was sent to Lehigh University for an intensive course on polymer chemistry, which was a valuable learning experience.

Q: What did you do before this job?

A: I had just graduated with my bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering before I joined Luminex. The path I took to get that degree is kind of unusual; I started out as a chemical engineer, but going into my junior year of college, the economy fell apart. Rather than competing in a tough job market, I decided to take more schooling and pursued a music degree at another university for three and a half years. When I finished there, I came back and completed my chemical engineering degree.

Q: What kind of music do you play?

A: I’ve played the viola since I was 10 years old. Now, I play as a member of the Austin Civic Orchestra.

Q: What drew you to Luminex?

A: When I was first looking at jobs, I wanted to have a more direct impact on improving people’s lives. Luminex really caught my eye because of its mission to better the field of medicine and the quality of healthcare testing and instruments. I help create products that will eventually go into diagnosing or studying disease.

Q: If you could solve any clinical or genetic challenge, what would it be?

A: If I had my way, cancer would be instantly detectable and treatable. It would be almost as simple as going to the doctor for a cold; you’d get a shot and you’d be good to go. Cancer treatment and outcomes are really heartbreaking.

Q: What is something about you that no one at Luminex knows?

A: About eight years ago I spent a month in the summer backpacking through Europe. A big chunk of my family lives in the United Kingdom, so I visited them and then jumped on a train and started my journey to Paris. I traveled on my own, which was very liberating. My favorite place by far was Venice. It was bizarre to be in a city with no cars — it’s so quiet and still. It looks like it did 200 years ago, and you get a feeling of being connected to the past in a way that you don’t often find in the US.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do in Austin on the weekend?

A: Getting Tex-Mex—whether it’s tacos at Torchy’s or chips and queso at a nice place downtown.

The Faces of Luminex: Aaron Benfield, Molecular Applications

For labs that perform molecular diagnostic testing, implementing new products can occasionally require training or troubleshooting to ensure seamless integration with current and future workflows. Our Molecular Applications Support Teams are experts in the field, and they combine their experience as both scientists and customer advocates to ensure our customers are set up for success.

Aaron Benfield, Senior Director of Molecular Applications, leads the Molecular Applications Team out of our Austin office and interfaces heavily with our Marketing, Sales, and R&D Teams to share the latest insights from the field. He joined Luminex in 2011 and holds a bachelor’s degree and a PhD in molecular biology from the University of Texas at Austin.

[thumbnail]

Q: What are your responsibilities at Luminex?

A: My team is mainly responsible for implementing diagnostic products in customer labs, as well as providing on-site training and troubleshooting. I manage a mostly field-based team that helps get customers up and running with our products in hospital, reference, and government labs across the US and Canada.

Q: What did you do before this job?

A: I was working at the Texas Department of State Health Services, where I was the Molecular Biology Group Manager and a Luminex customer.

Q: What drew you to Luminex?

A: One of my former colleagues was hired as a Field Applications Specialist at Luminex, and when she came to my lab to train my team on a new product, I became interested in learning more about her role. I liked the idea of travel—getting out and exploring new places while meeting different customers—so I applied and ended up joining Luminex as a Field Applications Specialist about a decade ago.

Q: If you could solve any clinical or genetic challenge, what would it be?

A: Technology moves quickly, and we can currently measure biological details like never before. If I could wave a magic wand, I’d improve the synergy between that data and how it could improve drug development, as well as patient diagnostics and treatment. I’d love to see improvements in how the scientific community studies drugs or cancers at a cellular level. I believe if we could further automate technology, we could use it to solve major challenges facing humankind.

Q: If you weren’t working in your current role at Luminex, what would you be doing?

A: I’ve had a fascination with meteorology that continues to this day, so I could see myself being a weatherman.

Q: What is something about you that no one at Luminex knows?

A: I was on the University of Texas water ski team. I grew up on a lake, and I spent a lot of time water skiing and wakeboarding when I was younger, so in college, I tried out and made the team. The University provided the boat and we had our own ski lake outside of town with a slalom course and a ski jump. It was somewhat of a fraternity experience, as we traveled to competitions in places like Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.

Q: What’s your favorite thing to do in Austin on the weekend?

A: I enjoy going out to eat, seeing live music, and going to the lake—I end up spending much the summer on the lake with my family and friends. Lately, I have been trying to get my kids into water sports. I got my oldest on skis when they were four or five years old. The last time I tried a flip, I tore a tendon in my arm that required surgery. Those days may be behind me at this point!

The Faces of Luminex: Rico Weterings, Customer Operations

Luminex has grown immensely through the years, and with a vast portfolio of products and a global workforce, there is a lot of pressure on our Customer Service Team to oversee the accuracy of order processing and fulfillment. Rico Weterings, International Order Management Associate, EMEA, helps manage this process from our office in the Netherlands. He joined the company in 2019 and holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and languages.

[thumbnail]

Q: What are your responsibilities at Luminex?

A: I’m part of the Order Management Team for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. We review new orders from customers, ensure detail accuracy—including pricing across various currencies—and monitor inventory. We also verify whether there are any local regulations we have to comply with. There are all sorts of things we need to do before we even enter the order!

Q: How did you get into this line of work?

A: I’ve been in Customer Service since I finished college. When I was in school, I trained in England for six months and had the opportunity to work at Pall Biomedical, which had an extensive international environment. After that, I knew this was the kind of work I wanted to do.

Q: What drew you to Luminex?

A: I’ve always been interested in the medical devices field—partly because my dad worked in a hospital for over 40 years. So, I had that interest, and it evolved into wanting to work for a company that builds medical devices. When I saw the vacancy with Luminex, I decided to apply. The rest is history.

Q: If you could solve any clinical or genetic challenge, what would it be?

A: For me, that’s a no-brainer. In Holland, one out of three people gets cancer, so I would aim to solve that if I could.

Q: If you weren’t an Order Management Associate at Luminex, where would you be?

A: I would still be interested in working with international customers and putting my knowledge of different languages to use, but the role could be anything. My native language is Dutch, but I also speak English, German, and a little bit of French.

Q: What is something about you that no one at Luminex knows?

A: Most people don’t know about my passion for music. I like to collect records and CDs—I have more than a thousand by now. I also go to all kinds of festivals and concerts.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do on the weekend?

A: That depends on the season. We are an hour away from Belgium, Amsterdam, and the German border, so there are always plenty of things to do. We have the best sandy beaches about an hour and a half away. I also enjoy hiking with my wife.

Want to be a Part of Our Team?

The Faces of Luminex: Emily Gipson, Sales

No Sales team would be successful without the support of those working behind the scenes to ensure every order is processed quickly and correctly. Team members like Emily Gipson, Senior Manager of Global Licensed Technology Group (LTG) Sales and Order Support, champion the pre-sales process by overseeing order accuracy and ensuring compliance with Regulatory guidance. Emily joined Luminex in 2008 and currently manages our LTG Sales and Order Support Team.

[thumbnail]

Q: What are your responsibilities at Luminex?

A: I manage the Sales and Order Support Team for the LTG business segments. We are a multi-faceted group, responsible for everything included in pre-sales activities, like reviewing order details, providing partner agreement support, and overseeing tender management and submission. We ensure product orders and billable services are accurately entered into the system so we can ship and invoice base on the appropriate financial guidelines. Each person on my team plays an important role in not only making sure customer needs are met, but also ensuring we follow necessary regulatory and financial guidelines before products leave the warehouse.

Q: What did you do before this job?

A: I started with Luminex over 12 years ago as an Order Management Representative on the team I now manage. It’s been really rewarding to see the team through several growth milestones.

Q: What drew you to Luminex?

A: I came to Luminex based on a referral from another Luminex employee, Jill Mathias. We worked together previously, so I knew I would find camaraderie and a strong work ethic with her. Although I had no prior experience in biotech, I was able to apply my background in Customer Service to my role at Luminex while learning more about the industry.

Q: If you could solve any clinical or genetic challenge, what would it be?

A: I would choose depression. Mental health touches everyone, directly or indirectly, at some time in their life.

Q: If you weren’t a senior manager at Luminex, where would you be?

A: I would likely be at a nonprofit, working with kids or the elderly. I have a soft spot for helping others, especially those that are disadvantaged in some way.

Q: What is something about you that no one at Luminex knows?

A: My best friend and I packed my little metallic green Toyota Corolla with almost everything we owned and drove into Austin on my eighteenth birthday, and I’ve been here ever since! I moved here from a small Texas farm town of about 2,500 people, and am thankful for the work ethic and tenacity I learned from growing up in a farming community.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do in Austin on the weekend?

A: Austin is such a foodie city, I absolutely love it! I am easy to convince to try new restaurants and food.

Want to be a Part of Our Team?

The Faces of Luminex: Kimmely da Silva, Marketing

Because we have customers all around the world, global team members like Kimmely da Silva, Marketing Communications Specialist for the EMEA region, are invaluable in educating current and prospective customers on our latest developments. Based in our Netherlands office, Kimmely earned a bachelor’s degree in communications with a minor in web design from Avans Hogeschool and joined Lumined in 2017.

[thumbnail]

Q: What are your responsibilities at Luminex?

A: My main focus is promoting Luminex’s products. I’m responsible for all marketing communication activities in the EMEA region, such as organizing events and developing EMEA-specific content. I’m also responsible for lead generation, lead nurturing campaigns, and digital marketing efforts.

Q: What did you do before this job?

A: I worked at Medtronic as a Sales Marketing Assistant. This role was similar to my position at Luminex, but at the time, I only focused on customers in the Netherlands.

Q: What drew you to Luminex?

A: I wanted to advance my career, and I liked that working with Luminex meant I would be able to work with people across the entire EMEA region.

Q: If you could solve any clinical or genetic challenge, what would it be?

A: Cancer, for sure. There’s still a lot of room for research, but alternative treatments like immunotherapy are worth looking into. It is also important to invest more in preventive research, and look at additional therapies that are less harmful to the body than what is currently available.

Q: If you weren’t a Marketing Communications Specialist at Luminex, where would you be?

A: Nothing makes me happier than trade shows and events! My mom always says I was born for the show. I enjoy creating our booth, discussing what Luminex is working on, and representing our brand.

Q: What is something about you that no one at Luminex knows?

A: I’m really an open book! Luminex is such a fun company to work for because everybody is very authentic.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do on the weekend?

A: I’m a board game fanatic. There’s no game that I don’t want to win. We play the game Keezen—which is like a combination of Trouble and Crazy Eights—often. I admit it’s a bit nerdy, but it’s also a lot of fun.

New Call-to-action

The Faces of Luminex: Carla Schneider, Area Business Director

The Luminex Sales Team is dedicated to supporting our customers—and that’s why we rely on people like Carla Schneider, Area Business Director for the Southeast, to provide important team guidance in managing this critical business function. Based in Louisville, Kentucky, Carla joined Luminex in 2015. She holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from Auburn University and an MBA from Indiana University.

The Faces of Luminex: Carla Schneider, Area Business Director

Q: What are your responsibilities at Luminex?

A: I lead a group of seven Molecular Business Managers who drive revenue for our Molecular Diagnostics product portfolio. Ultimately, our goal is to deliver solutions that help our customers improve patient health. We manage the sales process—everything including developing opportunities, engaging decision makers and influencers across our customer base, leveraging resources to successfully bring in new business, and implementing services with our Field Service and Molecular Applications Teams. We also oversee long-term customer success and satisfaction operations. My ultimate goal is to help people be successful—team members, peers, other people in the company I’ve mentored, and of course, our customers.

Q: What did you do before this job?

A: I’ve been in the clinical diagnostics industry for more than 20 years. Prior to Luminex, I worked at Thermo Fisher Scientific and Gen-Probe in a variety of roles, including Sales, Marketing, Sales and Applications Team Management, National and Corporate Accounts, and Sales Training Management.

Q: What drew you to Luminex?

A: I was at a division of Thermo Fisher in 2008 when we launched the xTAG® Respiratory Viral Panel, which was manufactured by Luminex. At the time, I told friends and colleagues that I could see myself working for Luminex one day. I watched the company closely over the years, admiring its very successful life science business and the quickly growing clinical diagnostics portfolio. When a Luminex recruiter called me in late 2014, I was excited for the opportunity to join the outstanding leadership here and manage a Sales Team in the clinical market.

Q: If you could solve any clinical or genetic challenge, what would it be?

A: If I could, I would tackle the addiction gene. Experts say alcoholism and addiction are 50% genetic and 50% environmental. If I could turn off that gene, that would be a dream come true. It kills people. I’ve seen that personally.

Q: If you weren’t an Area Business Director at Luminex, where would you be?

A: When I earned my degree in environmental science, I thought I was going to go and save the world. I would likely have ended up joining the Peace Corps with the goal of bringing clean water to third-world countries.

Q: What is something about you that no one at Luminex knows?

A: Most people who see me in business attire would never guess that I went primitive backpacking on the Appalachian Trail for a week. It was amazing.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do on the weekend?

A: I love being outside—hiking, kayaking, walking in the park—and spending time with my family and friends. I have three adopted children, and we love grilling outdoors. I also practice Bikram yoga regularly.

New Call-to-action

The Faces of Luminex: Samantha Mitchell, Human Resources

At Luminex, our team members are like family. We count on people like Samantha Mitchell, Wellness and Benefits Specialist, to ensure our employees are well taken care of. Samantha earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration at LeTourneau University and has been with Luminex for 15 years.

The Faces of Luminex: Samantha Mitchell, Human Resources

Q: What are your responsibilities at Luminex?

A: I work to ensure our benefit plans and procedures—from medical to dental and retirement—are up-to-date and enhance each employee’s experience, including their wellness. We always try to put our employees first by considering what each policy will mean for them. I think a lot of people don’t pay attention to their benefits until they need them, so I enjoy making sure employees are taken care of.

Q: What drew you to Luminex?

I originally started as a receptionist after a college classmate who worked at Luminex mentioned the job opening to me. I quickly became eager to learn more about biotechnology and realized that by working here, I was able to be a part of something greater—helping save lives. I’ve been fortunate to be a part of our company’s mission for 15 years now.

Q: What were you doing before you joined the Human Resources team?

A: About three months after I started working here, the Vice President of Research and Development approached me and asked if I’d be willing to be his Executive Assistant. Later, I transitioned into the same role working with our former CEO. After that, I joined the Marketing Communications Team, where I managed trade shows and events for about five years. Then, I was presented with the opportunity to join the HR team, and I decided to take on a new adventure. Working here feels like home.

Q: If you could solve any clinical or genetic challenge, what would it be?

A: I’m naturally an empathetic person, so I absorb other people’s emotions and carry that energy with me. That’s why I find mental health so important, especially this year, with so much anxiety and depression in the world. Psychological health can be such a big struggle, and a lot of people feel afraid or embarrassed to talk about it. I would love to find a way to make things better for people affected by mental health challenges, and let them know they’re not alone.

Q: If you weren’t a Wellness and Benefits Specialist at Luminex, where would you be?

A: Right before I joined Luminex, I was thinking about going to school for interior design. My passion is interior design and decorating—I find beauty in simple things. I imagine myself owning a bed and breakfast somewhere on a beachfront with an eclectic design in each room, meeting new people and making them feel welcome during their stay.

Q: What is something about you that no one at Luminex knows?

A: I was born preterm at just three pounds. I think I was in the hospital for about two months as an infant. Preemies have a special place in my heart.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do in Austin on the weekend?

A: We have two daughters—a seven-month-old and a four-year-old—so spending time with my family is my favorite thing. We love being outside, fishing, and taking walks. My four-year-old hooks her own worm and throws her own reel! We are also avid Dallas Cowboy fans and enjoy the comradery of watching the games with friends and family.

New Call-to-action

The Faces of Luminex: Miranda Chavez, Manufacturing and QA Operations

As Luminex® has grown over the years, so have our manufacturing capabilities and the various operations supporting them. We are grateful for employees like Miranda Chavez, Project Manager for Global Manufacturing and Quality Assurance Operations, who keeps things running smoothly. The Austin native earned her bachelor’s in biochemistry at St. Edward’s University and has been with Luminex since 2008.

The Faces of Luminex: Miranda Chavez, Manufacturing and QA Operations

Q: What are your responsibilities at Luminex?

A: I’m responsible for leading global initiatives within Manufacturing and Quality Assurance. We have expanded manufacturing sites in multiple states and Canada, so the landscape of the opportunities I am involved in is broad, covering many different products, chemistries, and systems. My job is to see the big picture, identify issues before they become issues, and resolve these issues on a daily basis. In Manufacturing, there is never a dull moment. I’m not somebody who likes doing the same thing all the time, so this is a great fit for me.

Q: What did you do before this job?

A: I’ve held a number of different roles, mostly in Manufacturing Operations, in my time at Luminex. I started out working on microsphere bead dying and dye synthesis. In 2008, I began working on one of the first assays we designed and manufactured at the Austin site. That role opened up a lot of doors for me here. With my broad background, I have the agility to fill in gaps and respond quickly to operational needs.

Q: What drew you to Luminex?

A: I stumbled upon it by chance. It was shortly after I graduated, and I wanted to utilize my degree while I was in the process of applying to medical school. This was in the 2008 recession, when there were virtually no biotech jobs in the city of Austin. I eventually landed a position at Luminex, and I realized I could have a real impact on healthcare without working directly with patients and decided not to go to medical school after all.

Q: If you could solve any clinical or genetic challenge, what would it be?

A: If I could cure anything in this world, it would be cancer. I lost my little brother Richard to cancer when I was in high school. He was diagnosed at the age of 8. Watching him go through that and spending so much time in the hospital really changed my life. Today, I am a registered bone marrow donor. I make sure to stay up-to-date on my registration and hope that one day I will actually get a call and have the opportunity to save someone’s life.

Q: If you weren’t a project manager at Luminex, where would you be??

A: If I weren’t in the sciences, I could see myself doing something that incorporates my love for travel, like opening a tour guide company, a hostel, or a bed and breakfast. I bought a piece of land on an island in Belize a few years ago. Some days, I dream of selling everything and buying a one-way ticket to go off and explore the world.

Q: How are you handling not being able to travel with the COVID-19 pandemic?

A: I’m going crazy not traveling! I have used two vacation days all year. By this point in the year, I would normally have been to Belize at least three times, and I would have visited a new country.

Q: What is something about you that no one at Luminex knows?

A: Most people don’t know that I worked as a Sonic carhop. That was my first job at age 15 and I kept it for years to put myself through college. Yes, I did wear roller skates and no, I never fell. At first I didn’t know how to use the brakes very well, so I had to do circles in the parking lot to slow down.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do in Austin on the weekend?

A: I love live music. You can often find me at a local dive bar, like the jazz/blues club right by my house. But I also really enjoy being at home with my two cats, my Doberman pinscher pup, and the six chickens that I have in my backyard.

New Call-to-action

The Faces of Luminex: Gabby Mora, Technical Training

Here at Luminex, we know that even the best assays or instruments aren’t worth much if they’re impossible to use. Our developers strive to make sure our products are designed for ease of use, and we also work hard to provide plenty of training opportunities to ensure that all of our customers feel fully supported. People like Gabby Mora, Technical Applications Trainer, help ensure that our customers and field support teams are up to speed. She joined us in 2018 and holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Baylor University, as well as certification in clinical laboratory science.

The Faces of Luminex: Gabby Mora, Technical Training

Q: What are your responsibilities at Luminex?

A: My team creates content for internal product support training, as well as training for customers on how to use our products. At least half the time, we are in our lab teaching Tech Support or the Field Teams. We have quarterly customer training sessions where customers come into the lab to learn. We also work with R&D and Marketing to get all the content together to do these trainings.

Q: What did you do before this job?

A: I worked in a clinical molecular lab.

Q: What drew you to Luminex?

A: Back in the clinical lab, I was a Luminex customer and was always so amazed by the quality of the products and their technical support. I had confidence in the company and in their products. When I was looking around to see what was next, I saw this opening and thought, “of course I’d want to work for Luminex.”

Q: If you could solve any clinical or genetic challenge, what would it be?

A: It’s a big wish, but it would be improving access to healthcare. I hate hearing about family members and others who don’t want to go to the doctor because they’re afraid of the medical bills they might get.

Q: If you weren’t a Technical Applications Trainer at Luminex, where would you be?

A: I’ve always wanted to be in the medical field, so I would probably still be working in the clinical lab. I like that connection to the patient.

Q: What is something about you that no one at Luminex knows?

A: Most people wouldn’t suspect that I do woodworking. It started with home improvement projects around the house. I would watch tutorials on YouTube and think, “hey, I can do that.” I’ve built some dining tables and end tables. I don’t have a specific style; I started out with the farmhouse feel and have drifted more to a modern design.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do in Austin on the weekend?

Hiking. I just recently moved to Austin and there are so many great hiking trails. A lot of them have tree shade, so even in the summer it doesn’t feel terribly hot. There are a lot more outdoor things to do here than you would expect in a city.

New Call-to-action

The Faces of Luminex: Ede Brooks McCullough, Marketing

At Luminex, we pride ourselves on developing high-quality molecular diagnostic tests, but this year our commitment to these tests—especially respiratory tests—has been more important than ever. We’re lucky to have Ede Brooks McCullough, Americas Marketing Manager, Respiratory, overseeing our rapidly growing assay portfolio in the Americas for everything from influenza to the SARS-CoV-2 virus. A Registered Dietitian who joined our team in 2015, she earned her bachelor’s degree in nutrition and food science from Middle Tennessee State University.

The Faces of Luminex: Ede Brooks McCullough, Marketing

Q: What are your responsibilities at Luminex?

A: I’m responsible for the whole respiratory portfolio in the Americas, including new product launches for any of the respiratory assays that we have. I work with Sales leadership, help with customer presentations, attend tradeshows, and go out in the field with the Sales reps.

Q: As the Respiratory Marketing Manager for the Americas, how has COVID-19 affected your workload?

A: It’s chaotic for sure. I’ve been slammed since March. We launched two SARS-CoV-2 assays in March and April, and we’re working on launching two more tests for this virus—one for the VERIGENE® System, and one for the VERIGENE® II System. We’re also close to launching the new VERIGENE II System, along with a respiratory panel test that will include SARS-CoV-2. It is really an awesome thing to know that our products are helping patients during the COVID-19 crisis.

Q: What did you do before this job?

A: Before coming to Luminex, I worked at Becton Dickinson as a Molecular Sales rep and before that, I was with a company called CCS Medical selling insulin and insulin pumps. Prior to that, I worked at Novartis selling medical nutrition products. I started out as a dietitian on a nutrition support team working in several hospitals. Every job has led to the next.

Q: What drew you to Luminex?

A: I was not looking to leave my last company, but in the interviews with upper management at Luminex, I found that they had a great but realistic vision for the company. I also felt right at home at Luminex. The culture was infectious.

Q: If you could solve any clinical or genetic challenge, what would it be?

A: I would abolish cancer.

Q: If you weren’t a Marketing Manager at Luminex, where would you be?

A: I probably would have stayed with my degree and pursued sports nutrition. I would have liked to work with a team like the Nashville Predators or the Tennessee Titans.

Q: It sounds like you’re really into sports.

A: I am! I’m part of a team every year where some of us go up against each other in fantasy football, and we do March Madness. I actually played soccer in high school and in college, and now I coach an elementary basketball team.

Q: What is something about you that no one at Luminex knows?

A: I played flag football for my sorority as the wide receiver and kicker. In one game, I ran headfirst into another player on the field, and it knocked us both out cold. I had my first concussion!

Q: What is your favorite thing to do in Nashville on the weekend?

A: I love to boat and to swim. We spend a lot of time on water. We have a pontoon boat but we’re about to upgrade to a deck boat. As my kids have gotten older, their idea of “fast” on the inner tube behind the pontoon boat isn’t fast enough anymore.
